A place that reflects beauty

To V.I.P.s like the actress Luana Piovanni and cool travelers like the publicity Ricardo Freire, the Espelho Beach isn’t exactly news – for years they’ve been frequenting this hiding-place that’s only 110 km far from Porto Seguro, a singular combination of amazing beach, charming hotels, restaurants with asian themes, high cost and hard access (there are 26 kilometers in a road made of land and full of holes)
The habitues also know that the beach that is called Espelho, where are the hotels and parties, are, more precisely in Curuípe.

Espelho, mirror in portuguese, is a nickname that the natives from the south side gave to their ground, because of the effect caused by the reflexion of the sunlight in the natural pools when seen from the ocean. The nickname crossed the little river that originaly used to divide the land, started to be used by the owners of hotels and ended up spreading itself.

A big part of the land belongs to a family of a fisherman that settled down there in the 1940's. Recently, the place entered in the regular tourism route. It is possible to buy packages from known agencies and the times when a misleading sign took the unconscious of the right way, probably on purpose, are gone.

The number of hostings increased, and, although it is an exaggeration to say that there are bargains, hosting there is not a privilege of the wealthier anymore.

That’s great, because of the shame of embarking on beats-and-turn tours on schooners or vans from Porto Seguro, Caraíva and Trancoso, which go all the way playing axé music in the last volume and leaving rubbish on the beach.. The most fun in Espelho Beach is just the opposite of excursions:

It’s having time to relax in a mat of straw covered with pillows and watch the landscape changings according to the tide. It is walking calmly for long deserts, little rivers and coconut trees.

The foot-in-sand restaurants are an invitation to watch the sunset listening to lounge music, jazz and bossa nova without bothering about the time to come back home.

INN

Until sometime ago, there was only one Inn by the seashore on the Espelho Beach, all other stayed at the top of the cliff.

The Enseada do Espelho came with strenght to the disputed scenery, spreading nets in the pleasant balconies of the rooms.
